Book’s Presentation “The Hand´s Speech”

February 26, 2020 book launch took place "The Hand’s Speech. Yucatec Maya Sign Language”, as part of Día Internacional de la Lengua Materna (February 21st) commemoration and within the activities realized by Museo Indígena Antigua Aduana de Peralvillo.

Along with the book’s presentation participants also had a discusion about contemporary indigenous literature with charge of Prof. Natalio Hernández, Nahuatl speaker and poet. Dr.Le Guen explained how the book is a tool that aims at promote the issues that concern emerging sign languages (specially, the Yucatec Maya Sign Language) and how communities in some places of the peninsula had been creating a visual system of communication in the conduct of their everyday life.
